The ReSmile experience

What is ReSmile?

ReSmile is a personalised treatment concierge and support service. We bring together clinicians who meet the ReSmile Standard with a dedicated concierge who helps coordinate your treatment, assists with practical arrangements and stays in touch before, during and after treatment. Read about the ReSmile experience.

What is the ReSmile Standard?

It is the standard of care we expect across our network. We check each clinician’s current registration, review their qualifications, and work with clinicians who share our approach to clear communication, careful planning and personal support. It is an internal ReSmile program and is in addition to, not a replacement for, registration with AHPRA. Read more.

Do you help with transport and accommodation?

Yes, where required. If your treatment involves travel, for example from regional WA, your concierge can help coordinate transport and recommend accommodation around your appointments. What is involved, including any costs, depends on your circumstances and the arrangements in place, and we will always explain this before anything is arranged.

Can my concierge help with my medication?

In a practical way, yes. Your concierge can help with reminders and coordination, always following your treating clinician’s instructions. They do not give medication advice, prescribe or administer medication. Any question about your medication goes to your treating clinician or pharmacist.

What happens after my treatment?

We stay in touch. Your concierge checks in after treatment, follows up on your next steps and helps coordinate any reviews or further appointments.

Who do I contact if I have a clinical concern?

Always your treating clinician. Your concierge can help you get in touch with them, but clinical questions and decisions are always handled by your clinician. In an emergency, call 000.

02

Getting started

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book a consultation directly with our concierge team. If you have been referred by another practitioner, let us know and we will coordinate with them.

What happens at a consultation?

Your clinician will talk with you about your goals, review your medical and dental history, and examine your teeth and gums. Depending on your concerns, they may take photographs, X-rays or a digital scan.

You will leave with a clear understanding of your options. Where treatment is recommended, you will receive a written plan and estimate so you can decide in your own time. Read more about your consultation.

I feel anxious about dental treatment. Can you help?

Many people feel this way, and you are welcome to tell us. Your clinician will explain each step, agree on a signal to pause, and talk with you about options that may help you feel more comfortable, including sedation where clinically appropriate.

Who will carry out my treatment?

Your treatment is provided by a registered dental practitioner. ReSmile works with a network of registered dental practitioners across Perth and regional Western Australia. See our locations, and our concierge team will help you find a suitable clinician.

03

Fees & payment

Is there a fee for the consultation?

Consultation fees depend on the type of assessment and any records needed, such as X-rays or 3D scans. Our concierge team will confirm the fee with you when you book, so there are no surprises.

Will I know the cost before treatment begins?

Yes. Before any treatment starts you will receive a written treatment plan with an itemised estimate. If your plan changes, we will explain why and provide an updated estimate before proceeding.

Can I claim through my health fund?

Some treatments may be partly claimable if you have private health insurance with extras or major dental cover. The amount depends on your policy and level of cover. We can provide item numbers so you can check with your fund before treatment.

Are payment options available?

Yes. Third-party payment plans such as humm, Afterpay, Zip, MediPay and Lifestyle Credit may be available for eligible treatment, subject to each provider's approval, fees and terms. See Payment options or ask our concierge team.

Can I use my superannuation to pay for treatment?

In limited circumstances, the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) may approve early release of superannuation on compassionate grounds for medical or dental treatment that is needed to treat a life-threatening illness or injury, or to alleviate acute or chronic pain or mental illness. Treatment for purely cosmetic reasons is not eligible, and the ATO decides every application.

Withdrawing super reduces your retirement savings, so we recommend independent financial advice. Read more on our Payment options page.

Smile Makeover

How long do veneers last?

The lifespan of veneers varies with the material used, your bite, oral hygiene and habits such as grinding. Porcelain veneers can last many years with good care, but all veneers may eventually need repair or replacement. Your clinician will talk through what to expect in your situation.

Should I choose veneers or composite bonding?

Both can improve the shape and colour of teeth. Composite bonding is usually more conservative and lower cost, and can be repaired easily, but it may stain and chip more readily. Porcelain veneers are more stain-resistant and durable, but usually require some enamel to be removed.

The right choice depends on your teeth, goals and budget. Read our guide: Veneers or composite bonding?

What is the difference between a crown and a veneer?

A veneer covers the front surface of a tooth, mainly to change its appearance. A crown covers the whole tooth and is used when a tooth needs strengthening, for example after a large filling or root canal treatment.

Will whitening change the colour of my fillings or veneers?

No. Whitening only lightens natural enamel. Existing fillings, crowns and veneers keep their colour, so if you are planning cosmetic treatment it is often best to whiten first and match restorations afterwards.

How long does a smile makeover take?

It depends on the treatments involved. Whitening or bonding may take one or two visits, while plans that include veneers, crowns, aligners or implants can take several months. You will receive a timeframe as part of your plan.

How much does a smile makeover cost?

A smile makeover is planned around you, so the cost varies with the treatments involved (for example whitening, bonding, veneers or crowns), how many teeth are treated and the materials chosen.

Your clinician will explain your options at the consultation, and you will receive a written, itemised estimate before treatment starts. Simpler options may be available, and you are never under any obligation to proceed.

05

Dental Implants

Does implant treatment hurt?

Implants are placed under local anaesthetic, so you should not feel pain during the procedure. Some discomfort, swelling and bruising is common for a few days afterwards and can usually be managed with pain relief your clinician recommends. Sedation can be discussed for longer procedures or if you feel anxious.

How long does implant treatment take?

For a single implant, treatment typically takes several months from placement to final crown to allow the implant to integrate with the bone. Bone grafting or full-arch treatment can affect timeframes. Your clinician will give you an estimate for your situation.

Is an implant better than a bridge?

Neither is better for everyone. An implant does not rely on neighbouring teeth, while a bridge avoids surgery and can be completed sooner. Your bone, the health of nearby teeth, your general health and your preferences all matter. Your clinician will explain the pros and cons of each.

What is the difference between All-on-4 and All-on-6?

Both support a fixed full-arch bridge. All-on-4 uses four implants, often angled to make the most of available bone. All-on-6 uses six implants to spread biting forces further. The right number depends on your bone, jaw size and bite.

Read our guide: Understanding full-arch options

Am I too old for dental implants?

Age alone does not usually rule out implants. What matters more is your general health, bone and gum health, and your ability to care for the implants. A consultation and 3D scan help determine suitability.

How much do dental implants cost?

The cost depends on how many teeth are being replaced, the type of implant restoration, whether extra procedures such as bone grafting are needed, and the materials used. Because every mouth is different, we do not quote a price before a clinician has assessed you.

After your consultation you will receive a written treatment plan with an itemised estimate, so you know the expected cost before anything begins. You can also read about payment options.

How long do dental implants last?

Many implants last for many years, but no one can guarantee how long an implant will last. It depends on factors such as your general health, smoking, gum health, bite forces and how well the implant and surrounding teeth are cared for.

The crown, bridge or denture attached to an implant can wear over time and may need repair or replacement. Regular check-ups and good daily cleaning are important.

06

Clear Aligner Treatment

How much does clear aligner treatment cost?

The cost depends on how much your teeth need to move, how long treatment is expected to take and the number of aligners and reviews involved. Retainers after treatment are another cost to plan for.

Your clinician will confirm whether aligners are suitable for you, and you will receive a written estimate before treatment begins.

How many hours a day do I need to wear aligners?

Usually around 20 to 22 hours a day. Aligners are removed to eat, drink anything other than water, and to brush and floss. Wearing them less than recommended can slow treatment or affect the result.

Are clear aligners suitable for everyone?

No. Aligners can treat many cases of mild to moderate crowding, spacing and some bite concerns, but more complex cases may be better treated with other approaches. Your clinician will assess your teeth and explain your options honestly.

Will I need a retainer afterwards?

Yes. Teeth naturally tend to move after any straightening treatment. Retainers help hold them in their new position, and your clinician will explain how and when to wear them long term.

Which aligner brands do you offer?

We work with selected aligner systems. Your clinician will recommend the most suitable option for your case at your consultation.

How long does aligner treatment take?

Many treatments take somewhere between several months and around 18 months, depending on how much movement is needed and how consistently aligners are worn. Your digital plan will include an estimated timeframe.
